Essential Oil must haves
With the end of Summer upon us, and the beginning of the school year fast approaching, lets talk about the stress and illness’ that will follow suit! The end of summer is a busy time for our home and for a lot of families. Trying to soak up the last bits of summer and being prepared for the school season can leave its toll on us, rushing to buy school supplies and preparing lesson outlines for our home school can leave me feeling overwhelmed and tired. In addition to regular school supplies here are some suggested Essential Oils to have on hand to help keep parents sane and kids healthy. Essential Oils are all over these days. I love using them and making my own infused oils. They are a great addition to everyone’s medicine cabinet. I use them daily from my home made tooth paste, home made hair rinse, to home made deodorant, for their healing properties and overall good health support.
Here are my list of top essential oils in my cupboard right now.
Peppermint- Stomach ache, head ache, Digestion and Motion Sickness. I also use Peppermint in my homemade toothpaste. A great refreshing taste.
Lavender- Sleep, relaxation and calming. I use Lavender in my home made lotions and hair products too.
Eucalyptus- congestion and anti-inflammatory. Healing respiratory issues like asthma and great here in the wet Northwest damp conditions that lead to mold.
Grapefruit- Depression, anxiety, stress and nervous disorders. An immune booster, like the fruit itself, the essential oil is high in Vitamin C.
Lemon – Moods, Immune support and purifying oil. Lemon oil is a versatile oil that cleanses toxins from your body and stimulate lymph drainage. And a great bug repellent! without the nasty smell.
Lemon Grass- Relieves muscle tension and I love it for cramps or achy muscles. Another great one to repeal insects.
Tea Tree- So many uses for tea tree, from acne, to treating wounds, lice prevention, athletes foot and fleas!
Clove- I use clove in my home made tooth paste, it has healing properties and helps with tooth aches. It is also great on skin tags, warts and kills candida!
Chamomile- Sit down with a nice cup of chamomile tea at the end of the day. The calming effects of chamomile makes it a favorite for tea drinkers to wind down after a stressful day. It also helps with upset stomach and aids in sleep.
Sandalwood – Energizing, overall mental health and well-being. Enjoy a sense of calm and mental clarity.
What are your go to essential oils? How do you like to use them? Essential oils have so many benefits beyond just their aroma therapy. And there are a lot of DIY ways to add them into your daily routine.
